Alex Sutherland 2014
I began photographing Daniel in 2014 after he had returned from prison, I was fascinated by how unphased he seemed. I documented the months that followed and discovered the true story was that of a person overcoming their circumstances, the judgement they receive and the effect it had on friendships and connections. This project became a catalyst for my interest in photographing the lifestyles of my generation and the people around me, as well as becoming an eye opener of how much the structure of society dictates people's lives.
